The Get Out Clause

I heard about this band and video on the news a while back. I though it was a very clever way of producing a music video if you don't have much cash to spare. The band found CCTV cameras around England and performed their song infront of them, after this they would ask for tapes under the freedom of information act. After collecting all the tapes they edited them together to create their final music video. It is a very simple idea and I couldn't believe it had not been done before!

However I warn you the song is...well, not great...

I cant work out how to put the video on but will do soon, for now click this link

The Starn Twins

I have admired and followed these photographers for a while now. Their work always manages to catch my eye, because of there distinct presentation and unique way of handling prints. Most of the work is done once they have printed their photo, they often manipulate them to create texture, depth and interesteing focal points. The manor in which they treat their work is very rough and may appear haphazard and careless but every mark is though out carefully. They scratch, rip, burn, tear, cut and tone, to mention a few ways of enhancing the original photo. Many of their photos are cut up and each section is dealt with in a different way, some toned longer than others, some toned a different colour, others ripped or scratched, then they are pieced back together again. It doesnt stop there, I have seen hem sewn, stapled, nailed and taped back together again. They push the boundaries of photography; combining it with the creativity of art. My favourite aspect of their work is that each piece is unique and can never be created again.

Full of lovely stuff

I don't neccessarliy love the advert but I do admire the thinking and actual physical design of it. I understand the concept and think it is a unique selling strategy for a car company compared to a lot of other car companies who try to sell how strong or safe the car is. This takes a softer approach and is obviously targeting a different target audience, such as women or families. I didn't realise until recently that they actually made the car out of real ingredients and had a team of bakers who put it all together, you can see a documentary film here http://www.newfabia.co.uk/.

Red Cross

I find it very interesting the way advertising can change a persons previous perception of something and change or subvert its meaning so you view it in a different light.

Shaving

I love adverts that stand on visuals alone, no words are needed to express the function of the razor!

Racism is for assholes

Since the birth of Ambient and Guerilla media, adverts are appearing everywhere and in more unusual places. Like this advert for racism.

Ann Summers

Very clever placement by Ann Summers! Using phallic imagery!
